Fans of
Star Trek are joining together with actors from the various series to raise funds for relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The
United Federation of Fans is raising funds through both donations and proceeds from auctions of
Star Trek memorabilia, donated by fans and actors.
Donations to Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, World Vision, Humane Society of the United States, and the United Way are accepted via the U.F.F. Web site.

Auction listings at eBay are handled through G.E.N.I.U.S. (Genre Entertainment Network In Union to Serve), an organization founded by actress Chase Masterson to raise funds for charitable endeavors. "As artists, we create in order to make a difference. The funds raised by contributions of signed scripts, DVDs, production stills, publicity shots, CDs, props, wardrobe or set pieces will make a significant difference in the lives of people we may never touch in any other way," says Ms. Masterson.
In addition to Ms. Masterson, actors Armin Shimerman, Kitty Swink, Rene Auberjonois, Andy Robinson, Nana Visitor, Alexander Siddig, and Tim Russ have joined the efforts of the United Federation of Fans, and other actors are joining daily.
