A pair of Star Trek names from on and offscreen are teaming up for a special event. Armin Shimerman (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Quark) and Larry Nemecek (Managing Editor of the Star Trek Communicator magazine as well as author of the "Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion") will be appearing on June 14 at the Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles at the Westside Pavillion for a two-party discussion and book-signing session.

The discussion, entitled "Science Fiction/Non-Science Fiction" will feature Shimerman and Nemecek discussing writing stories set in the past and the future.

Shimerman's writing credits include Quark-centered Star Trek: Deep Space Nine novel "The 34th Rule" (co-authored with David R. George III) and "The Merchant Prince" (co-authored with Michael Scott) and the second volume in the series "Outrageous Fortune," with contributor Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. The series follows Renaissance figure John Dee as he navigates the future, blending the past with the future. A third novel in the series, "Capital Offense" is due in December, by Shimerman and Scott.

The discussion, set for Saturday, June 14 at 3:00 p.m., is open to the public and free of charge. The Westside Pavillion Barnes & Noble is located in Los Angeles at 10850 West Pico Boulevard.
