Showbiz Roundup: Blalock, Braga and more

Blalock Weds

How do you say "congratulations" in Vulcan? Jolene Blalock ("T'Pol") married her longtime boyfriend, Clear Channel executive Michael Rapino, at the end of April. The couple tied the knot in a very private ceremony in Jamaica. We at STARTREK.COM would like to extend our congratulations to Jolene and her new husband and wish them many years of wedded bliss.

Happy 100 Episodes, Brannon Braga!

Enterprise executive producer Brannon Braga has had quite a long and prolific history with the Star Trek franchise. As of the recent episode "The Crossing," Braga has officially reached 100 writing credits on the show. His official Web site, www.brannonbraga.com, is collecting congratulatory notes and wishes to send along to Braga. The deadline is tomorrow, May 15. For more details and to send your note, check out this page.

"Nemesis" Ads, "Reading Rainbow" Receive Recognition

Bleu22 Studios and Paramount Pictures have been nominated for one of The Hollywood Reporter's 32nd Annual Key Art Awards in the category of Internet Advertising. The nomination is for the advertising work on "Star Trek Nemesis." The Key Art Awards are "the only competition in which working professionals honor their peers for designing and creating motion picture advertising material," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The awards will be handed out June 20 at the Los Angeles Scottish Rite theater. In other awards news, LeVar Burton's ("Geordi La Forge") long-running children's show Reading Rainbow picked up a Daytime Emmy last week for Single Camera Editing.

Trek Alums in TV and Film

Watch for Jeri Ryan ("Seven of Nine") this weekend in the film "Down with Love," starring Ewan McGregor and Renee Zellweger. Also, NBC has picked up a pair of shows featuring Trek alums for the upcoming TV season. The comedy Whoopi stars Whoopi Goldberg ("Guinan") as "a washed-up singing sensation who also owns a boutique hotel," according to Variety. Happy Family, another comedy, stars John Larroquette ("Maltz") and Christine Baranski as a couple whose grown children move back home. Happy Family also features Susan Gibney ("Leah Brahms," "Erika Benteen"). Both shows will likely land on Tuesday night.
