Braga Speaks
Enterprise executive producer Brannon Braga will appear at a UC Santa Cruz Alumni Association Event on Saturday, May 17 at the ArcLight Cinemas in Los Angeles, CA. Braga, who studied film and video at UCSC, will screen an episode of Enterprise and discuss the making of the show. Tickets are $20 for Alumni Association members, $25 for non-members. Whoopi Watch
Star Trek: The Next Generation's venerable bartender Whoopi Goldberg ("Guinan") has been keeping busy. According to Variety, Goldberg stars as an "ex-diva turned hotel operator" in a new sitcom pilot for NBC. Goldberg is also set to make a special appearance at Friday's "100% NYC: A Concert Celebrating the Tribeca Film Festival." Norah Jones, The Roots and Denis Leary also appear.
X2 Tops at the Box Office
"X2: X-Men United," the X-Men sequel starring Patrick Stewart ("Jean-Luc Picard") as Professor Charles Xavier, bowed at #1 over the weekend, bringing in a worldwide take of $155.2 million. The film's estimated $85.9 million domestic take marked the fourth biggest opening ever, according to Variety.
Trek Alum on TV
Fionnula Flanagan ("Enina Tandro" in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's "Dax", "Juliana Tainer" in TNG's "Inheritance", "V'Lar" in Enterprise's "Fallen Hero") is featured as "Margaret Byrne" in the latest Murder She Wrote TV movie, "The Celtic Riddle," airing Friday at 9 p.m. on CBS.
