As the Hollywood award season winds down after the Oscars, the theatre world starts recognizing their own.
Kate Mulgrew (
Star Trek: Voyager's
Kathryn Janeway) has been nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for her performance in "Tea at Five."
The Lucille Lortel Awards honor Off-Broadway achievements. The designation of what makes a "Broadway" show in New York City has more to do with the size of the theatre than with the location. Many "Broadway" theatres are not actually on Broadway in the Big Apple.
Mulgrew's portrayal of screen legend Katherine Hepburn in the one-woman show has garnered her plenty of great reviews and continues to play at the Promenade Theatre.
The Lucille Lortel Awards will be presented on Monday, May 5 at, naturally, the Lucille Lortel Theatre in New York.
"Tea at Five" was written by Matthew Lombardo and directed by John Tillinger. For more information, visit the "Tea at Five" site via the link below, as well as previous STARTREK.COM news stories.
