Fans who tune in to TNN for
Star Trek: The Next Generation are in for an enhanced experience. The popular cable network plans to make the program interactive with the debut "iTREK LIVE," a real-time, two-way interactive television (iTV) experience.
"iTREK LIVE" is powered by GoldPocket Interactive's EventMatrix® technology, which enables at-home viewers to play along with TNG in real time and compete against each other on their set-top boxes and Internet-connected computers. The program will enable viewers to interact with on-air content and each other in real time. Starting Monday, March 31 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, viewers will be able to test their knowledge of the evening's episode, competing against each other for the top spot on a live leader board. Some trivia answers will be provided in the content of the broadcast; others will require knowledge of the series.
Interactive viewers of TNG will also be able to express their opinions via live polls, immediately view audience-wide results from polls, chat with other viewers about the show, create their own chat rooms, and read exclusive information not featured in the on-air episode. Registered players will be able to view their standing on global and local leader boards, with each night's top ten scorers posted regularly.
To participate, viewers should tune their iTV-capable set-top boxes to TNN or log on to www.TheNewTNN.com/promos/itrek from their computers. "iTREK LIVE" runs through April 25.
All viewers who participate will have the opportunity to win special prizes via online sweepstakes. Daily prizes include Trek encyclopedias and Monopoly games. Each daily player will be automatically entered for the chance to win a grand prize: an Alien Road Trek tour across the country in a Winnebego, with stops at three sites. The stops are: Socorro, MN, for a tour of the largest array of radio telescopes in the country; Flagstaff, AZ, for a tour of Barringer Crater; and a one-day Area 51 adventure, just outside of Las Vegas.
