Mulgrew Takes Tea to New York For those of you who didn't catch Kate Mulgrew's (Kathryn Janeway) critically lauded one-woman show "Tea at Five," now's your chance. The show, which is based on the life of Katherine Hepburn, opens off-Broadway in New York City on March 9. Previews begin on February 25. Spiner on Broadway
Brent Spiner (Data) is also headed for the New York stage: the actor has joined the cast of the Broadway production of Yasmina Reza's Life x 3. Helen Hunt, John Turturro and Linda Emond also star. Previews begin March 11, and the show opens March 27 at Circle in the Square. Life x 3 focuses on a couple that is putting their son to bed when their dinner guests arrive 24 hours early. Goldberg in "Ma Rainey"
Spiner will be joining a former Star Trek: The Next Generation colleague on Broadway Whoopi Goldberg (Guinan) currently stars in a revival of August Wilson's "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" at the Royale Theatre. Trek Writer Nominated for Nebula
Michael Taylor, who penned such memorable Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager scripts as "The Visitor" and "Body and Soul", has been nominated for a Nebula award by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. Taylor received the nod for his script for The Dead Zone episode entitled "Reasonable Doubt." This memorable episode of the Michael Piller-produced series had Johnny Smith (Anthony Michael Hall) trying to convince his fellow jurors of a man's innocence. Taylor is in fine company the other nominees in the script category include Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio for "Shrek," Frances Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson for "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" and Joss Whedon for "Once More, With Feeling" (the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
Ryan and Dorn Act as Presenters
Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) and Michael Dorn (Worf) are among the presenters of The Fourth Annual Hollywood Makeup Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards. The ceremony takes place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, February 16 and will be aired as a special on The Style Network on Saturday, February 22 at 9 p.m.
TV Land Awards
"The TV Land Awards: A Celebration of Classic TV" premieres on TV Land and will be simulcast on Nick at Nite on Wednesday, March 12, 9 p.m. - 11 p.m. ET/PT. The show has moved from the previously announced date of March 9. Star Trek will be honored with the Pop Culture Award, which awards a show that has "crossed the line from television series to pop culture phenomenon," according to a press release. According to his official Web site, William Shatner (James T. Kirk) will be on hand to accept the award. The ceremony is hosted by John Ritter.
