The coming weeks hold a bounty of treats for U.K.-based
Trek fans, as "Star Trek Nemesis" bows on January 3 and
Creation's first London-based convention beams in that same weekend. In the meantime, fans can get their fill of
Trek via "Star Trek The Adventure," one of the biggest
Trek attractions ever.
"Star Trek The Adventure" recently kicked off its world tour in London's historic Hyde Park, and is currently open to the public and drawing notice in the press. Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter published a feature spotlighting the exhibit, which offers a multi-media experience contained within a 7,000 square meter, climate-controlled environment. Visitors may view specially re-created sets, props, costumes and interactive demonstrations representing all five TV series and all ten feature films, including "Nemesis." Fans can get "beamed up" by the transporter, visit the bridge of the Kirk-era Enterprise, or pop into Quark's Bar. There's also a first-ever look at the armory from Enterprise.
Currently, the event is slated to run in Hyde Park through January 31. If the event manages to meet its target of 500 ticket-buyers a day, the London debut will continue through May, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
William Shatner (James T. Kirk) visited the exhibit earlier this month, which made for a historic moment Captain Kirk, back on the Enterprise bridge once more. When asked by a Reuters reporter if he was shedding a nostalgic tear for the moment, Shatner replied with his trademark sardonic wit: "No, that's just the wind."
Martin Biallis, president of Special Entertainment Events Inc. and "Star Trek The Adventure"'s developer and creator, noted that special attention was paid to every aspect of the exhibit, given Trek fans' legendary attention to detail. "If we created or built something that isn't exactly as they know it from the series, they wouldn't come," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Hours of operation for "Star Trek The Adventure" are 10:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. 8:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For ticket information and sales, visit Bookings Direct via the link below. For further details on the exhibit, check out this previous news story.
