Sensor Sweep: Who's in Movies, TV and Theatre

Members of Star Trek's long list of alums make appearances almost daily in films and television and on stage. The following information is subject to change, so be sure to check your local listings for channels and airtimes, and for theaters and showtimes.

Coming Up on Television

Sunday night, after you see the encore of "Dead Stop" on UPN, flip over to CBS and catch Terry Farrell and Saul Rubinek in "Gleason," the biopic starring Brad Garrett as comedy great Jackie Gleason. The recently hitched Farrell (related story), who was "Jadzia Dax" on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, plays "Marilyn Taylor" in the TV movie. Rubinek, who was outrageous as "Kivas Fajo" in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Most Toys," plays Gleason's manager "Bullets Durgom."

Wednesday night, be sure to tune in to see Chase Masterson, Andrew J. Robinson and a host of other Star Trek alumni in Presidio Med on CBS (10:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific). Masterson and Robinson were two of DS9's most memorable characters, "Leeta" and "Garak." Also appearing in that episode of the medical drama is Mark Moses, who played Jonathan Archer's father "Henry Archer" in the Enterprise pilot "Broken Bow," as well as "Naroq" in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Riddles." Also, John Rubinstein, who was the "Mazarite Captain" in last season's "Fallen Hero" and "John Evansville" in Voyager's "The 37's" is in the same episode, along with Rif Hutton, who was a "Klingon Guard" in "Star Trek Generations."

On Stage in New York

Another comedy giant of an earlier generation, George Burns, is being portrayed by one of Star Trek's most classic veterans. Frank Gorshin, "Bele" in "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield," opened his one-man show "Say Goodnight, Gracie," last night in New York at the Helen Hayes Theatre.

The play crams Burns' 100-year life into a mere 90 minutes, examining the performer's Manhattan childhood, his entry into vaudeville, his love affair with Gracie Allen and his career in radio, TV and movies, according to an Associated Press article (which can be seen here at Yahoo! News). "This is the toughest thing I've ever had to do, to learn that much dialogue for an hour and a half," says Gorshin.

In Movie Theaters This Weekend

Be sure to catch John Billingsley ("Dr. Phlox" in Enterprise) in "White Oleander" this weekend. Billingsley plays a "Paramedic" in the drama starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Renee Zellweger, Robin Wright Penn and Alison Lohman.
