"Star Trek – The Adventure" Beams into London's Hyde Park

Star Trek fans in the United Kingdom may have to wait a few weeks longer to see "Star Trek Nemesis" than those in the United States, but in the meantime they can visit Hyde Park, beginning December 18, to see one of the biggest Star Trek exhibitions ever: the massive "Star Trek – The Adventure."

Kicking off a world tour in London's Hyde Park, this multi-media interactive experience is contained within a 7,000 square-meter, climate-controlled environment offering displaying specially re-created sets, props, costumes and interactive demonstrations taking fans through decades of real Star Trek history and centuries of fictional Star Trek history.

Tickets for "Star Trek – The Adventure" go on sale today, September 27, and the attraction will be open from December 18.

Among the hundreds of items on display will be exhibits that draw from all five top-rated television shows and all ten feature films, including the latest movie, "Star Trek Nemesis," which will open in UK cinemas on January 3, 2003.

Packed with Star Trek thrills, fans will be immersed in Star Trek experiences, such as seeing what it's like to be "beamed up" by a Transporter and getting the experience captured on videotape or the "Bridge Experience," which puts fans on one of the most famous sets ever, plus flight simulators, a three-story replica of Quark's Bar from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, a first-ever look at the massive Armory set from the latest series Enterprise.

One whole area will be devoted to in-depth demonstrations of alien make-up and makeovers, and Star Trek Production Designer Herman Zimmerman appears in a recorded presentation to explain how environments and ships are imagined and brought to life.

There will be special video salutes with never seen before interview footage paying homage to Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and the early history of his creation, timelines to track, a Turbolift re-creation, and a chance to watch on video a visual effects designer as he creates and executes some of Star Trek's state-of-the-art special effects.

Along with plenty of souvenirs galore, arcades, Starfleet Restaurants and a movie theatre showing Star Trek episodes, the entire exhibit is a full day's worth of excitement for hardcore and casual Star Trek fans alike.

Hours of operation for "Star Trek – The Adventure" will be 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
