Star Trek fans might rank her a bit higher, but
TV Guide believes
Jeri Ryan (
Star Trek: Voyager's "
Seven of Nine") is the 41st sexiest star of all time.
Star Trek veterans Kim Cattrall and Julie Newmar also made the magazine's list of "50 Sexiest Stars of All Time," and Cattrall is even featured on the cover of next week's issue (Sept. 28-Oct. 4).
The list includes both TV and movie stars of the past 50 years, compiled in celebration of TV Guide's 50th anniversary. Ryan ranked just below Barbara Eden and Luke Perry. The magazine had this to say about her:
"Of all the wonders of the sci-fi universe, few compare to Seven of Nine (1997-2001) in UPN's Star Trek: Voyager. Only Jeri Ryan could have made this icy Borg such a voluptuous, red-blooded woman. In a catsuit so tight it must have made breathing difficult, Ryan could always be counted on to heat up the cold vacuum of outer space."
Cattrall, known in the Star Trek universe as the traitorous Vulcan "Valeris" in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country," made the top ten number 8 based on her breakout turn as Samantha in HBO's Sex and the City. TV Guide describes her as "the Mae West for the millennium."
Coming in at number 30 was Julie Newmar, who played "Eleen" in the Original Series episode "Friday's Child." She was honored primarily for a reason that echoes Ryan: "...it was the way that a certain black catsuit hugged Julie Newmar's lithe body when she played the villainously chic Catwoman on ABC's Batman that confirmed her status as one of the sexiest women ever," the magazine states.
TV Guide Online has an abbreviated version of the article here, featuring ten of the 50 honorees leading off with Cattrall. The full list can only be seen in the printed magazine, available on newsstands.
In case you're wondering, George Clooney took the number-one spot.
