Members of Star Trek's long list of alums make appearances almost daily in films and television. The following listings are subject to change, be sure to check your local movie listings for theaters and showtimes, and local television listings for airtimes.
Opening in Movie Theaters This Week
The cast of the Al Pacino-starring Hollywood satire "Simone" includes Christopher Neiman, who played Yeggie, one of the Ferengi conspirators in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Inside Man."
The prison boxing film "Undisputed," starring Wesley Snipes and Ving Rhames, also features two-time Star Trek alum Nicholas Cascone, who played Ensign Davies in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Pen Pals" and Timor in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Equilibrium."
Also opening this week (in a limited release pattern) is "Children on their Birthdays," which features Christopher McDonald, who played Lt. Richard Castillo in the TNG classic "Yesterday's Enterprise."
On Television
The FX television movie following the life of Robert Kennedy, "RFK," features long-time Star Trek alum James Cromwell as U.S. President Lyndon Johnson. The movie premieres on the cable channel Friday, August 25. On TNG, Cromwell appeared as Nayrock in the episode "The Hunted" as well as Jaglom Shrek in "Birthright Parts I & II." On Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, he played Hanok in the episode "Starship Down." Cromwell's biggest role on Star Trek to date was in "Star Trek: First Contact" and the Enterprise premiere "Broken Bow," playing Zefram Cochrane, creator of the warp drive.
The Disney Channel's adaptation of the Madeline L'Engle teen novel "A Ring of Endless Light" premieres on Friday, August 23 featuring Scarlett Pomers (Voyager's Naomi Wildman).
On September 2, over the Labor Day Weekend, the Mystery Channel (an Encore cable channel, check your local listings for availability) will be airing a 24-hour marathon of the classic Rod Serling series Night Gallery. Part of the marathon will feature a new documentary on the series call "Art of Darkness" which is hosted by Leonard Nimoy ("Spock").
