The USA Network's upcoming drama series
The Dead Zone, featuring
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's
Nicole deBoer ("
Ezri Dax") and co-Executive Produced by
Star Trek: Voyager Executive Producer and Co-Creator
Michael Piller, is adding another
Star Trek alum to its cast.
David Ogden Stiers is familiar to most people as the actor behind Charles Emerson Winchester III on M*A*S*H, but is remembered by Star Trek: The Next Generation fans as Dr. Timicin from the episode "Half a Life."
Based on the popular Stephen King novel of the same name, The Dead Zone follows Johnny Smith (played by Anthony Michael Hall), a young teacher about to be married to deBoer's character when he's left comatose by a horrible auto accident. Six years later, Smith regains consciousness and possesses psychic powers which are both a gift and a curse.
Stiers has been signed to play Reverend Gene Purdy, Smith's legal guardian and the show's main antagonist.
The Dead Zone will premiere on the USA Network on June 16 at 10:00 P.M., check your local listings for exact information, or visit the Dead Zone site via the link below. The show is also co-Executive Produced by Lloyd Segan and Robert Lieberman, and Produced by Shawn Piller (who is credited for story on two Voyager Q episodes "Death Wish" and "The Q and the Grey") and Robert Petrovicz.
