Members of Star Trek's long list of alums make appearances almost daily in films and television. The following listings are subject to change, be sure to check your local movie listings for theaters and showtimes, and local television listings for airtimes.
In Movie Theaters This Week
The Robert DeNiro and Eddie Murphy action comedy "Showtime" features none other than William Shatner ("James T. Kirk"). Shatner plays himself in the film, which spoofs television reality shows. In the film, Shatner is hired to help real cops Murphy and DeNiro learn how to look like cops on television, a nod to Shatner's stint as a cop on T.J. Hooker.
Also opening this weekend is the computer animated family film "Ice Age," which features the voice of Stephen Root, who played the Klingon Captain K'Vada in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Unification."
On Television This Week
On Friday's Rosie, host Rosie O'Donnell welcomes both the aforementioned William Shatner and Susanna Thompson. Thompson has made many Star Trek appearances in many roles, such as Varel in the TNG episode "The Next Phase," the inmate Jaya in TNG's "Frame of Mind," as Dr. Lenara Kahn in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Rejoined," and as the Borg Queen on Star Trek: Voyager in the two-part episodes "Dark Frontier" and "Unimatrix Zero."
Also on Friday, ABC's Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher will feature a panel that includes Michael McKean, who appeared on Star Trek: Voyager as the Clown in "The Thaw."
