All New STARTREK.COM

Every so often a Web site needs a refit, and STARTREK.COM is no exception.

For the last year, our team has been working behind the scenes to bring you a site that better manages all the information contained within our vast database. Finding the information that you need – in a quick and timely manner – was our primary goal, while at the same time offering a new and fresh environment to explore the site.

For a complete tour of the new site, please click here. If you would like to see a site map, please click here.

First-time visitors will notice our new horizontal navigation. You will see that when you roll over the main navigation bar, more options are revealed. You can click on any of these items to go the section of the site you are looking for. You are never more than a couple of clicks away from the Star Trek information you need! The home page for STARTREK.COM is the place to start your travels. Here, we feature all the latest and greatest from the world of Trek, as well as highlighting some things you may have missed. The latest products, interviews, news and more are all featured here.

The first item on the "nav bar" is News. As this is one of the most popular destinations, it comes first. From the home page you will see some of the most up-to-date news, and from the News hub page we highlight some of the most recent or relevant stories from the world of Star Trek. When you go to a list, such as the News list, you will notice another new innovation — the "slider." The slider (patent pending) can take you to any point in a long list of items with a simple "drag and drop"!

Under Features, you will find our exclusive video and text interviews, Star Trek Documentaries, Behind the Scenes, theories, artwork, photo galleries and other special features. Be sure to check back for new items that will be added.

To access Series & Movies, you can do it one of two ways from the homepage: You can either click on the appropriate series or movie section, where it says "GO TO:", or you can go to the Series & Movies navigation (which also features the Animated Adventures). Once you roll over that space, the various shows and the movie hub page are revealed. Just go there and click!

You will notice that each series and movie now has a "hub page." From these pages, you can access all the relevant information you are looking for related to that show or movie.

The biggest section of the site has always been the Library, as it stores thousands of pages of information related to the Star Trek universe. As you move your cursor over the Library heading, 12 sub-headings appear that take you to the specific section. From "Acamarian brandy" to "zilm'kach" in the Food section, it's all there. Have fun, explore the Library and expand your Star Trek horizons! You can check out the Library for the following items: Episodes, Movies, Cast, Creative Staff, Characters, Media, Aliens, Ships, Technology, Science & Medical, Places and Food. (Please note: The Library is a work in progress and is constantly being updated with the latest in Star Trek terms.)

Our Community section is always popular, and now we are looking to offer even more fan interaction with the site. Along with the usual Polls, Contests, Message
Boards, Chats, Fan Galleries, Columns, Fan Club and Convention information, you will be able to post your own "Fan Review" of your favorite episodes and movies!

The Gaming section gives you the latest in the world of Star Trek computer and video games, and the Store offers you a place to buy the latest and greatest in Star Trek merchandise.

Having trouble finding that obscure piece of information about an episode, either a co-star or a library entry? Then check out our new Search and Advanced Search functions. Here you are able to search specific areas, or the whole site, for the information you need. In the Advanced Search, you can use key words to specify your target information, or to simply narrow down your search.

We've also updated the Registration for STARTREK.COM. Now, by logging in you can write your own Reviews for episodes and movies, use the Message Boards and Chat areas, sign up for the STARTREK.COM Newsletter, and personalize the Where to Watch information for your viewing area.

As you explore the site more, you will soon find what you want with ease. And with other features and functions, such as year-to-year News Archives, the ability to sort lists, along with the new images and information, STARTREK.COM will make your Star Trek experience all the more rewarding.

Please note: Delivering a very large, layered and in-depth Web site can be a complicated undertaking. As we wanted to bring you this new experience as soon as we could, there are still a few "teething problems" as a result. We therefore kindly ask that you be patient with us; a few functions are still being worked out and certain other areas of the site will be implemented shortly. So if some things don't work quite like you might expect, that is why.

STARTREK.COM is developing more and more each day. New improvements and more information will be added regularly. We hope you like what we've done so far and we look forward to hearing your comments on the new site. If you would like to pass them on to us, please contact us.
