Today's Hollywood Reporter (dated November 13-19, 2001) features a story profiling the long and varied career of Enterprise theme songwriter Dianne Warren. The multiple award-winning songwriter's "Faith of the Heart," sung by classical English singer Russell Watson, is
Star Trek's first theme song with lyrics included in the opening credits.
"She [Warren] has a remarkable sense of lyrics" said Enterprise Executive producer Rick Berman in the piece. "We were looking for a song that was an example of what Star Trek was - a song that expressed a sense of exploration, a sense of bravery and fearlessness."
Berman added that "Faith of the Heart" has "a tremendous amount of spirit, faith and humanity that fit exactly what we wanted. She has the ability - through her lyrics and music - to express a huge amount of feeling in such a short amount of time."
In other Hollywood news, Star Trek: The Next Generation's Whoopi Goldberg ("Guinan") celebrated her birthday today by receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Walk of Fame, which lines portions of both sides of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, has been honoring celebrities since 1960, and is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
