Sensor Sweep: Who's in Movies and on Television

Members of Star Trek's long list of alums make appearances almost daily in films and television. The following listings are subject to change, be sure to check your local movie listings for theaters and showtimes, and local television listings for airtimes.

Opening in Theaters This Week

The Paramount thriller "Domestic Disturbance" features Star Trek veteran James Lashly, played Ensign Kopf in Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Brothers," and appeared as Starfleet Chief of Security Lt. George Primmin in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes "The Passenger" and "Move Along Home."

The latest Coen Brothers film "The Man Who Wasn't There" includes Lilyan Chauvin, who played Vedek Yassim in the DS9 episode "Rocks and Shoals."

The Jet Li actioner "The One" features Tucker Smallwood, who played Admiral Bullock (or actually, a member of Species 8472 playing Admiral Bullock) in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "In the Flesh."

On Television This Week

Tonight marks the debut of Jeri Ryan ("Seven of Nine") on the Fox drama Boston Public. Ryan loses the implants and the cat suit to play the more down-to-Earth role of a high school teacher, and once again joins an established show as a cast member.

Ryan will undoubtedly talk about Boston Public when she's a guest on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn on Thursday, November 1 on CBS.

This week's episode of Roswell features an Enterprise crossover of sorts. The show, Executive Produced by Jonathan Frakes ("William T. Riker," as well as directing "Star Trek: First Contact" and "Star Trek: Insurrection") will feature a casting session for Enterprise in which a Roswell alien (who appears human) auditions for the part of an alien, reading opposite John Billingsley ("Dr. Phlox"). The episode airs Tuesday night on UPN.

Appearing on UPN directly after Enterprise on Wednesday is the supernatural comedy/drama Special Unit 2, which this week features a guest appearance by John de Lancie ("Q"). De Lancie plays a grotesque villain on the Chicago-set series about an ultra-secret unit of the police force that deals with supernatural threats.
