One of the components in Chief Engineer La Forge's VISOR. The pods transmit visual data collected by the VISOR to the brain. When trapped on planet Galorndon Core in 2366, La Forge and the Romulan Bochra connected the pods to a tricorder, enabling the tricorder to detect a neutrino rescue beacon.
