One of Deep Space Nine's three original Danube-class runabout vessels dropped off by the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D in 2369 and destroyed the next year by a T'Lani munitions cruiser; it was later replaced by the U.S.S. Mekong. The Ganges was used to ferry Starfleet families to the Korat system during the temporary evacuation of Deep Space Nine caused by Bajoran Minister Jarro Essa's attempted coup. The Ganges was also used to drop off Kira and Dax at the Lunar V base
