The slim aquashuttle aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise is both spaceworthy and able to perform underwater reconnaissance. Housed on the hangar deck, the aquashuttle is crewed by Captain Kirk, Lieutenant Clayton, Mr. Spock, and Dr. McCoy, when they traveled to the surface of the planet Argo, a world mostly underwater, in 2269 (stardate 5499.9). When the vehicle is attacked by a large beast known as the sur-snake, the shuttle crew uses phasers to stun it, but later, the creature smashes the shuttle against a rocky outcropping. The doomed shuttle is apparently the only one aboard the Enterprise.
