A void without matter or energy that the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D encounters while mapping a little-known sector. Once inside there can be no communication with any exterior point, and there is no prior record of any similar phenomenon. In doubling back on its original course, the Enterprise travels over 1.4 parsecs without emerging from the void -- much farther than the distance traveled into the anomaly.
