A Federation colony world, where Dr. Leonard H. McCoy's daughter, Joanna McCoy attended school. In 2259 the planet suffered a catastrophic crop failure that would have resulted in the deaths of fully half of the colony's inhabitants. Fortunately, the galactic trading magnate and interstellar philanthropist Carter Winston intervened, putting his fortune behind sustaining the colony through a period that would otherwise have been marked by a deadly famine. The planet Cerberus is named for the ferocious three-headed canine guardian of the gates of Hades from ancient Greek mythology.
