Captain of the Fortunate, an Earth cargo freighter. Keene's family had lived on the ship for three generations. Keene was wounded during an attack by Nausicaan pirates in 2151, and was unconscious for several days. He was treated by Enterprise NX-01 physician Dr. Phlox, and eventually recovered and returned to duty. Keene was forced to demote first officer Matthew Ryan after Ryan tried to seek out revenge on the Nausicaans while Keene was unconscious. After he recovered, Keene also offered to share some Draylaxian whiskey with Captain Archer.
