Mark Lenard is best known to Star Trek fans for his portrayal of Spock's father, Sarek, in episodes of the original series, ST:TNG and in motion pictures.

He began his association with the original series in his role as the Romulan Commander in the episode "Balance of Terror". HIs first appearance as Sarek was in "Journey to Babel."

He played the Klingon Captain in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" and returned as Sarek in "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock" and "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country."

Lenard was briefly considered to be a replacement Vulcan in 1967 when Leonard Nimoy balked at contract negotiations to return for the second season of Star Trek.

Mark Lenard passed away on November 22, 1996.
