STARTREK.COM now has a powerful Search capability, providing unprecedented access
to the thousands of articles about episodes and movies, characters, cast and creative staff,
and our library of aliens, ships, places and more.
Each page of the site has a SEARCH module. This page describes that function; for information
on ADVANCED SEARCH, click here.
To do a quick search, simply type a word or
phrase into the field and click GO. You will see a Search Results page with a list of the
articles that match the word or phrase you entered.
To refine your search, type in your word or phrase, then select the section of the site
in which you want to search. You can limit your search to News, Features, Series & Movies
or the Library, for example. Click GO and your Search Results will be displayed.
On the Search Results page, just click the headline of an article and that article will
be displayed. From there you can use your browser's "back" function to return to the
Search Results list to review more articles.
The Search Results list is displayed with articles most relevant to your search at the top;
less relevant (but still qualified) articles will be nearer the bottom. You can sort the
results by clicking the column heading: sort by Date, Article Type, Title or Match.
Click the heading again to sort in the opposite order.
You can use a phrase like "he's dead jim" or "bio neural gel packs" and find articles for
which those are relevant. Just type your phrase in quotes in the search field.
You can also combine search terms to find what you're looking for. For example, searching for
"kirk and spock" will give you only those articles that have BOTH names mentioned. You can use:
- kirk and spock
- kirk + spock
- kirk spock
- spock kirk
... all will retrieve the same results.
You can also search for "kirk or spock" and get all articles that mention EITHER of them.
You can type:
- kirk or spock
- kirk, spock
... to get these results.
You can search for "kirk not spock" to get articles that mention JUST Kirk and not Spock.
You can enter:
- kirk not spock
- kirk - spock
... for this selected list.
