Russell Watson, an up-and-coming operatic tenor from the U.K., sings the theme song for
Star Trek: Enterprise, called "Where My Heart Will Take Me" (a re-make of the song previously known as "Faith of the Heart") written by the Grammy Award-winning, multiple Oscar-nominated composer Diane Warren. This is the first lyrical theme to be used in the opening credits of a
Star Trek show.
You might recognize "Where My Heart Will Take Me" from the soundtrack of the movie "Patch Adams" starring Robin Williams. But that version of the song was recorded by Rod Stewart and still called "Faith of the Heart."
Hailing from Salford, England, Watson debuted in 2000 on Decca Records/Universal Classics with his album "The Voice," which, along with unprecedented critical acclaim, became the biggest debut ever by a British male classical artist. Watson also contributed to tracks on the soundtrack of the film "Captain Corelli's Mandolin," starring Nicholas Cage and Penelope Cruz. He is considered a crossover artist, extending his musical range from classical to pop.
Watson has re-recorded "Where My Heart Will Take Me" for his second solo album, "Encore." This version is a bit different than the version heard on the show. His CD can be purchased through Amazon.com, via one of the links listed below.
The exact version of the song used on the first two seasons of Star Trek: Enterprise is now available for purchase.
The opening credit sequence for Star Trek: Enterprise is detailed in this documentary.
