From working on rock 'n' roll shows as an assistant art director, to working at CBS for The Lawrence Welk Show, from The Jeffersons to Star Trek, Set Decorator Jim Mees has been around the creative block.

Jim began his employment on Star Trek as Set Decorator for the second season of The Next Generation. After working on the show for several years, Mees, along with the rest of the art department, earned the coveted Emmy award for Outstanding Art Direction in 1990 for TNG's "Sins of the Father." The team also earned five other Emmy nominations.

Jim continued to lend his design expertise to five seasons of Star Trek: Voyager and four years on Star Trek: Enterprise. He is currently working on Threshold for CBS.

In this exclusive interview, Jim talks about how he creates the look and feel of both human and alien worlds as well as some of the challenges he has overcome to accomplish this.
