With the transmuter, Korob and Sylvia disguised themselves as humanoids and captured various crew members from the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701. In effecting escape, Captain Kirk destroyed the transmuter, which also resulting in the deaths of Korob and Sylvia.
