Character actor Stephen Root, perhaps most famously known amid a long resume to geekdom as mumbly misfit Milton Waddams in cult fave Office Space, played Klingon Captain K’Vada in TNG’s “Unification,” ferrying Picard and Data to a covert Spock-finding mission on Romulus. A 1951 native of Sarasota, Fla., Root is also recognized as Jimmy James of the sitcom NewsRadio, as the voice of both Bill Dauterive and Buck Strickland of Fox’s animated King of the Hill, and as a frequent face in Coen Borthers movies. Among his many recurring credits on TV are playing flight director Chris Kraft in HBO’s From the Earth to the Moon, GOP aide Bob Mayer in The West Wing, Eddie the vampire in True Blood, probation officer Bill Prady on 24, and Dwight Dixon in Pushing Daisies. His voice work also includes Woozy Winks and the Penguin for Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Commander Chode in Tripping the Rift and Homebase in The X’s, as well as features such as Finding Nemo and Ice Age.
