Wife of Robert Picard, mother to Rene, and Jean-Luc Picard's sister-in-law. Although relations between Jean-Luc and his brother were often strained, Marie corresponded with her brother-in-law to keep him abreast of family matters—and she initially acted as a buffer when Jean-Luc finally came home to visit after his Borg experience in early 2367. In 2371, Marie was widowed when Robert was killed in a fire, along with René.
