A new sidearm weapon introduced for Earth Starfleet use in 2151, with not only more power than the predecessor EM-33 pistol but a variable beam control for a "stun? setting as well as a lethal level; an even lower "cutting beam" setting is available as well. Settings are changed with the flick of a switch on the left side of the stock, near the top of the handle.
