Spock's beloved childhood pet sehlat, I-Chaya watched over young Spock during his youth. When seven-year-old Spock ventured into the perilous desert known as Vulcan's Forge in 2237 (8877 on the Vulcan calendar) to prove himself shortly before his kahs-wan survival test was to begin, I-Chaya sacrificed his life to prevent a predatory le-matya from killing Spock.
