Haneek, a female, Skrreean refugee leader, came to Deep Space Nine in 2370 (via the wormhole) believing Bajor to be her peoples' long-promised homeworld.

Distinguished by her red-hair, Haneek came on a Skrreean transport, along with her son. Soon, Commander Benjamin Sisko came to her aid and agreed to allow more Skrreean ships to arrive at DS9. Their passengers populated the station until the Bajoran government decided what should be done about Haneek and her people's claim regarding as their homeworld.

Haneek and her people ultimately settled on Draylon II instead.
