This President, an Efrosian, served as head of the United Federation of Planets, with his office based in the city of Paris, France, on Earth.
In 2293, at the Khitomer conference, the Federation President was the target of an assassination attempt by Colonel West and other war-hawk conspirators from among both humans and Klingons. The assassination, and the conspiracy which manifested it, intended to disrupt that year's historic peace overtures between the Klingon Empire and the Federation.
