Campanella in 1985

Primetime and daytime, Joseph Campanella had been a staple of American TV since the 1950s, making his appearance as a Federation Arbitrator on Earth in Voyager’s “Author, Author” one of the final performances of his long career.

Born in Lewistown, Pa., in 1927, Campanella starred in NBC’s The Bold Ones: The Lawyers, recurred as Ann Romano’s ex-husband in One Day At a Time, the former partner of Mannix and Judge Camp in The Practice, and for many years voiced the narration for BMW radio and television commercials. From a two-year role in daytime’s The Guiding Light in the 1950s, he later returned to soaps in The Bold and the Beautiful as Jonathan Young.
