Did anybody here use these message boards back in 2002 - 2006?

I haven't used these boards sense my high school years. This place was like an outlet for me... almost like a low-tech holodeck. I remember getting banned from these boards alot for my wild antics. I posted various raunchy stories (some Star Trek related ones), and got into fights. I'd also come on here for advice. I had a monster crush on this girl named Heather, and would often rave about her on here. Don't worry though people... I'm much more mature now lol.

Anyway, I was just wondering if there are any users left from back then? The first time I used these boards was in December 2002 to voice my concerns about Star Trek: Nemesis doing so poorly at the box office. I regularly used these boards up 'till late 2006, maybe early 2007. Anyone by any chance remember me?

Those years were the peak of my Star Trek fandom. It was a depressing time to be a Trekkie. Nemesis had bombed. Enterprise was getting real low ratings and finally got cancelled. The future was looking bleak for Star Trek.

This place is looking a little dead compared to how it used to be... which is surprising. I figured this place would be much more lively now, with J.J. Abrams movies rejuvenating the franchise and all...

I was also wondering if there was any way that I could search for old posts that I made? Can I search for posts by user name? Or have posts dating that far back been deleted? Perhaps an Admin could answer this for me?

Well, it's good to be back after all these years. The look of this place has changed a bit, but it's good to see the same old Avatars and Andorian smileys... Live long and prosper everybody.

Yep, I was here then, and even before that.  I've been a member since June 1998 when it was called "Star Trek: Continuum" and hosted by MSN.  Yea, the boards are positively dead now compared to back then.  (And the site Admins have been pretty much AWOL for quite a while.)

You can try to search, but when they released this current version of the board, I think they removed all the posts from the previous board.

Many of the "old guard" have moved on to another site. Check my signature, they remember you and you are most welcome. I think I remember you, I joined in 2005.

I came about 2005 or some maybe sooner. I use to hang at IGN till it was crap. Gradually the same thing happened here too. I wonder if it was because of me? For some reason when ever I join a message board it dies an early death. But anyways there hasn’t been a new ST based show in years never mind the movies. So I guess there's no incentives to be on the ball for this place.

Also I'm never really that memorable for people, sadly. I wish I could be but I refuse to be a jerk in order to be popular n such. Take it or leave it. I'm not going to be something I'm not except when coseplay.

I'm fairly sure I signed on in 2007 or thereabouts (after lurking around the site for a while). I started using different boards in '06, but these were different boards on different subject areas. So chances are, we don't know each other, but welcome back anyway. It's nice to meet you.

P.S. You are memorable to me, Tigress. If you left here and came back I'm 99% sure I'd remember you! But then I like reading your posts.

Total newb question here but, how do you search for posts and user posts? Where do you go? I have to say, I think I like the old design better lol.

It's sad that these boards are so dead now. Even though there hasn't been any new Trek on TV in a while, there's still a huge world out there to explore and discuss. There's like 700 episodes, 12 movies, kajillons of novels etc... I mean this is Star Trek.com for God sakes! It's THE official Star Trek website!

Thanks for the link to Starbase 63 DS9_FOREVER. I just registered there. Personally though, I'm thinking it'd be better if it was called Starbase 69 lol.

I remember coming here to escape from the silly social categories of school, but even THIS place had social categories! There was a member named Queen Rajin that seemed the most popular. There was this guy named Vulcan Fried Chicken who always linked to silly sound clips. The most infamous member was this spammer named Wolfy. He'd always go, "SPIM!!! RIPURTED!!!" Yep, there was quite a bit of drama back then.

Anyway, good to hear from my fellow veteran members!

yea, the old "grey board" was much better.  To use the search, hit the magnifying glass in the upper right corner of the screen.  It really doesn't work well at all, but it does do a little.

I've been here since 2005 at least.  Maybe even 2004.  It's all kinda a blur.

Sadly message boards in general have lost out to facebook.  But as far as I'm concerned message boards are still the best way to connect with people.

Seems to me though that a lot of old threads were purged during the move here.

I think there are several reasons for the message boards being less active.  The website was up, then down when it was being redesigned.  The hype about the new Star Trek has faded and many have seen the "new" movies to be badly done.  Some of the fans have migrated to Dr. Who and enjoying quality science fiction and adventure. Also, there were many who were only here to cause problems and were banned.

We've also lost a lot of good members because they were baited into arguments by trolls or just plain ran off by the trolls.

Agree with BamBam.  These boards were a lot more active when I first joined about a year ago or so.  But to answer the OP question, I was not on here back in 2002 to 2006.  What was your screen name back then MadMaverick - maybe someone here will remember you.
