how would making a clone solve anyting. One would still have to die. Even though there is a clone left you're still killing a living sentient being. I'm sure that one who will die has no comfort in the fact that there is a clone of them, as far as they're concerned their life is about to end

thats not necessarily correct.

I think you have forgoton the different types of clones we have seen in Trek over the years.

a c;one like the one of Kahless was a blank slate untill they programed a "life" for hhim from their old books. We also know its possible to transfer a persons "presonal" to a computer for example wath was done to Data.

So they could copy Tuvix's mind and transfer it to a blank clone.

a clone like Sim [from Enterprise] has all the memories of its dna doner, sure back in Archers era their life span was short, but I'm sure in the 300 years between then and Voyagers time they learned ways to expand that life.

a clone like Tom Riker would be asn exact duplicate up till the point of the transporter cloning.

>I agree Tuvix is a prime example. Tuvok and Neelix were merged by accident and became a new lifeform the only ojne if it's kind and due to Janeway she ordered them to be seperated. Primarily killing this lifeform one of the reasons why I hate Janeway as a captain and there is other episodes which brings her morality into question

>
right..............she chose the needs of 2 lives over the needs of 1 life...........seems logical to me

But she made a new life extinct so yes she chose the needs of the many over the needs of the one. I just believe making a lifeform extinct just so she can get her friends back who are aware of the risk when joining starfleet a bit selfish

its not like that new "species" could have reproduced the normal way

There is many species that don't reproduce the way we do whose to say that Tuvix could not reproduce the usual way  tht wasn't explored if I remember correctly. and with all the major species in Star Trek there is numeroud species that do not reproduce in the usual way.

A clone of Kirk was also created the only difference wqas the personality was split as well so all his anger and agression was in oen kirk and all the empathy and caring went into the other one. If I remember correctly they had to be remerged only because they each would have died without the other.

I/m not saying TUVIX could not reproduce the normal way, meaning with any kind of female.

what I;m saying is that even if he did,. his ""species" would still end when he did.

unless he reproducess a-secually ,and offspring would be a hybrid.
