I agree. The show was great. But I think the Xindi stuff and the amount of time travel shows limited ENT for what it could be. Also the 2nd and 4th season are great tv. The 4th season is amazing and really did a lot to show the full potential of the show and tie up some trek stuff. Just sad the last episode was not an ENT episode but a TNG episode.

It was good but was telling stories that had already been told.

I just watched two terrible episodes. Sure, I will keep watching but it really isn't all that good and maybe, just maybe it deserved being cancelled after four seasons.

Those two episodes were "A night in sickbay" with Archer acting like a complete moron the whole 45 minutes and a script that was more than just cringeworthy. How come that people who write THAT kind of shitty dialogue, are high-paid screen writers??? I dont get it. Also I just realized how utterly, utterly unbelievable I find the idea that the captain of humankind's first long space mission, would bring his freakin' DOG along and take the dog along to outings on new planets. I like Porthos and I understand what they were trying to do... but, come on!! That whole episode left me feeling embarrassed on behalf of humankind and Archer (yes I know it's just a TV show, lol).

Second episode, Marauders. Totally unbelievable. Yeah sure, you scared those big bad Klingons off forever!

And no matter how much I try, I just think Scott Bakula was the wrong person at the wrong time. That said, the failure of the show is not on him, but on those writers. (Why is he always panting, though??)

"Course heading, Captain?" "Second star to the right. And straight on 'til morning."

I know what you mean. But check out some season 4 stuff. I think ENT really came alive that season. But it was too late. If TNG had some rough times in season 1 and 2....I think with TNG Yesterday Enterprise really showed its true potential.

@ jaymichael, l I agree, TNG had a fedw terrible episodes as well, and there are quite a few TOS episodes I found painful to watch. I'm trying to remember that. It's hard to get over a Captain of the Enterprise you really, really dont like, though. I've come to appreciate the rest of the crew more though, Trip, Hoshi, Phlox and T'Pol in particular.

@moonbeam6612 Trip and Phlox are great. I really did like Archer. And well Hoshi is an amazing character too. However I did not really connect with T'Pol. She seemed to be more eye candy like 7, but for me Hoshi was more eye candy and had some real depth.

Keep up with ENT Ipromise it gets better. The second season has some great stuff. I think the momentum was lost though with season 3 (Xindi stuff). But the 4th - wow - it makes you realize - it ended too early.

Season 3 was all or nothing. Linda Park was terrific in "Extinction,"  "Impulse" is very well done. The concept that Vulcons could regress to their primative state was a faboulous idea. Blalock was awsome!  Other very good episodes include"Similitude" which featured Trimneer & he gave his best performance in this episode. "Carptenter Street" and the last 3 episodes are all very significant episodes w/in the show's context.

Blalock & Nimoy were the best two actors in the Star Trek universe. Go Vulcans!

Enterprise is awesome! It's the only series that really shows the history of the Federation.

Having just watched the last episide of the Xindi arc, I have a couple of theories;

1) Malcolm reported that Hitler had conquered, 'England,' - not Britain.  The excess stupidity of this statement caused a temporal collapse.

2) The P-51 Mustang, in such a case could never have existed.  The finest US fighter of WW2 was designed to a British specification, built to a British order, and was an, 'Also ran,' until fitted with a British engine.

Personally, I think a history teacher watched the episode and put the entire cast and crew into detention.

I loved Enterprise but UPN had gotten really annoying with their popup ads that filled a third of the screen about what's playing, what's coming up next, what's debuting when, and on and on and on.  UPN had gotten so tacky and obnoxious that they cheapened Enterprise and I stopped watching it; preferring to wait until the entire series came out on DVD.

I am just getting into this seariesas of a week or two ago and I have been about half way through it. I have seen a major portion of most of the Star Trek series as well as many of the movies and Enterprise is not inferior to any of them nor is the writing any worse. I don't know what people are talking about in that it is not up to par. As far as I have seen it looks to be the best developed yet. Yes, it was cancelled and so waht the first series. That is all marketing and has nothing to do with the quality of the show- you can't go by rating as some of the stupidest stuff gets high rating. Maybe Start Trek is too cerebral for the general public. I don't know how it ends yet but I will see in a couple weeks time permitting. Engineers that I have met are all Star Trek fans. I think they did a great job with this series.

When this series first aired I didn't want anything to do with it - it felt like a step back. Then, a few years ago I picked up Netflix and after a nearly decade long draught of good TV, I went back to Enterprise sort of looking forward to some Star Trek on TV.

It didn't disappoint and now it's one of my favorite of the Treks. It would be great if the Facebook fan campaign to bring ENT back onto Netflix to wrap up the Romulan War arc was successful. Then again, I also want an on-screen resolution to Nemesis, which is incredibly unlikely at this point.

One problem I have with Enterprise, even though I like it (apart from just never being able to warm up to Scott Bakula, sorry, I think he was the wrong choice), is, the name of the ship. Don't get me wrong, I get the warm fuzzies when I hear the name Enterprise (especially when Trip says it...lol), but, hadn't it already been established that the Enterprise in TOS was the first? Doesn't Scotty make a really big point of that in TNG Relics ("no a, b, c or d")? I know I know, it's a different class of ship... but that's still a pretty weak rationalisation. If they wanted a ship called Enterprise, they should have used Captain Pike or Captain April or one of the later Enterprises before the D.

Also that they invented a whole new history that never was mentioned in any of the other series. Sure, you can rationalize that away, and if you try hard enough, come up with a reason, but I just think it is lazy writing. Enterprise could have been just as good or better if they had put a little more effort into continuity. Which begs the question, why IS ST so horrible about continuity?? They couldn't even get Spot's gender right in TNG from one episode to the next. Weak.

At least they finally explained the whole Klingon Cranial Ridge/No Cranial Ridge thing.
