A question to my fellow fans, If you are faced with the dicision of aiding the enemy , abiding a peace treaty, or  helping an old friend and former Captain who has disobeyed direct orders . The question, what do you do?

Aiding the enemy is never an option.

If these two choices are ALL that I am to be
presented with - and I MUST choose between
them - then aiding my disgraced and former
Captain is what I will choose. Aiding the enemy
is a choice that not even the enemy respects ...

A Peace Treaty in shambles is not an "OK" to
defy its terms, because of its present state.

And aiding the enemy, just to be a Benedict Arnold
is not going to earn you the respect, or trust, of
"The Enemy." You are just a tool offering a temporary
advantage, and that is all. Military secrets ARE the
most fleeting of all. Finally and most importantly ...

If a disgraced captain is about to do something that's
UNauthorized to hurt the enemy, warning them is not
aiding them. Part of keeping the peace is doing things
that are difficult for you and that the enemy can see
is difficult for you. Keeping your word builds trust ...
especially when there's every opportunity to break it.

Well put ans insightfull . Even without proper evidence to back his acusation  it would seem that the Capain in this case turned Mutinous for his own purposes .

This sounds like the scenerio to "The Wounded". Except Picard only knew Maxwell by reputation. He aided the enemy to help preserve the peace at the expense of a Captain's career. I'd probably do the same.
