According to the ratings system of Rotten Tomatoes, this is how the trek movies are ranked:

1. Star Trek 2009
2. TWOK
3. FC
4. STID
5.The Voyage Home
6. Undiscovered Country
7. Search for Spock
8. INS
9. Generations
10. TMP
11. Nemesis
12. FInal Frontier
Rotten tomatoes has a lot of love for JJ but also manages to get some of the classics right

IMDB's rankings

1. STID
2. Star Trek 2009
3. TWOK
4. FC
5. Voyage Home
6. Undiscovered Country
7\8 (tie) Generations and Search for Spock
9\10\11 (tie) Insurrection\Nemesis\TMP
12. Final Frontier

IMDB gives JJ the top two spots (obviously based on consumer reaction and money and not necessarily substance)

My Rankings

1. TWOK
2. FC
3. Star Trek 2009
4. Voyage Home
5. Undiscovered Country
6. STID
7. Generations
8. Search for Spock
9 TMP
10.Nemesis
11. Insurrection
12. Final Frontier

Although JJ's new trek doesnt adhere to my trekkie idea of a star trek movie, I do enjoy them enough to have them both in my top half...I do have the classics up there, and only watched the Voyage Home once and liked it but just saw it again recently and it was bumped up in my rankings...Agree with my rankings\disagree with IMDB\Rotten Tomatoes? What is your rankings? (please omit Galaxy Quest as I did not have it on my list)...LLAP

At the last convention, there was a poll on it.  Results at http://www.startrek.com/article/star-trek-las-vegas-2013-day-2-recap.

I had to laugh that STID came in after Final Frontier.

I saw that and that was my primary reason for doing this...I did not agree with that assesment from the poll and as I have said in other forums, the newest movies are not really made for just us trekkies and it reflects badly upon us when we whine about a movie that has lead to the growth of the star trek fanbase through the movies and thus an interest to know more about star trek and TOS...It wasnt a perfect star trek movie by any means but it has kept all that we love intact in the prime universe! and lets be realistic, there cant be any new movies with the older cast (and if they did do a generations 2.0 [like TNG to a new cast of the enterprise E or F] but with a better passing of the torch, I would have been really happy with that but it did not come to be!)

Insurrection? That is an...interesting....selection (to say the least)....my curiosity forces me to ask, why Insurrection as #1?

INSURRECTION is very entertaining popcorn fare ...
and the rekindled Imzadi romance was most welcome!

I couldnt take Picard's love interest or the villan seriously..the idea was very star-treky in origin, but I just didnt like it overall...I did like that it showed the human\corruptable elements of Starfleet

As most everyone around here knows, I'm a history buff - too many historical instances of oppressors forcing out another group of people.  Or, by extension, one group of people dominating another.  Then there are times when someone stands up and says this is wrong - making a moral argument and fighting for justice, like Picard's little group on the ground.

To me, while I do like action, I prefer the storyline first and foremost.  Action can't overcome a bad storyline.

And since Picard studies history, it was obvious to him too.

Very intruiging...I found that with Undiscovered Country and I very much liked that flick...I shall have to rewatch Insurrection then for its historical points...were you a fan of Avatar for its parallels?

Watch for Picard saying, "But some of the darkest chapters in the history of my world involve the forced relocation of a small group of people to satisfy the demands of a large one. I'd hoped we had learned from our mistakes, but ...it seems that some of us haven't."

the historical parallels, yes.  I recently watched it for the first time and saw a very obvious correlation to the American Indians.  Then I started thinking about destroying the forests and linked that to the Indians in the Amazonian rainforests.

Yes I appreciated the allegory (albeit incredibly obvious) which almost had a trek feel to it...I just still never felt the Insurrection villans\conflict was as strong as it could have been...

My ST movie rankings post STID:

TWoK
FC
TUC
TVH
Star Trek
TSfS
TMP
STID
GEN
INS
NEM
TFF

The TWoK rip-off reversal at the end ruined it for me.

sad to say that the rest were garbage or at the very least underwhelming.
