Do you think they would give each subspecies an individual number or use one number and assign letters to split them up e.g. Species 5088-a, -b, -c, ect? The question struck me one day and I can't shake it.

Numbers are infinate, so I say they would just assign each a different number.

If so, then perhaps the Borg would skip a number for the Avians.

Or perhaps the Avians would be Species 5088, no bloody A, B, C, D or E.

do the borg give numbers to extinct species?

anyway they would probably just number them all different numbers but in order: species 5001, 5002, 5003, 5004. (just an example)
