>You know I take it back, you're right TravisMalcolm, there will be another series and it will do well! It will be shallow and flashy and deviod of what Trek was really about! If the reboot has shown us anything, it's that Americians are mindless children with attention spans the length of rice grains! These are the kind of people that will swallow anything!

My God, man, get ahold of yourself!  There was no anything with TREK until WE the fans gave it life and we helped to create the universe it is in by our comments to the Great Bird.  Every time someone does something different with 'our show', we turn into crotchety old farts who use the 'it was better in my day' line.  (I have created and run ST conventions and I loved the new ST movies!  IT is an ALTERNATE Universe, not the prime and it is an ability to give something that unfortunately has gone stale new life and new fans.  Star Trek has always been about openess and acceptance--but alot of our fans are acting like dictators and wanting to silence and deny anthing that might change their worldview.  I welcome anything that will keep the Star Trek name and franchise going (short of Disney buying it).

Call it what you want it's not Trek, its mindless drivel! I won't accpet it because it lack the very thing that made Star Trek great, a soul! Have fun with your flashy lights and empty fucking writing! I won't silence anybody say what you want and contuine to spend your money on that shit, I will do the same and not spend what little money I have on this garbage, maybe if enough people do it Hollywood will get the idea!

It always cracks me up how when someone voices an opinion that goes against what they beleive they are so threatened. I just pointed out that the Trek Reboot's appeal to the mindless masses. I will say however that saving the patient's life by making them braindead and souless is not saving the patient's life!

>Hey, I've got an idea for a series!

>In all of the different Star Trek series, characters would hook up and maybe have kids.

>Riker-Troi.  Bashir-Dax.  O'Brien-Keiko.  Paris-Torres.  Chakotay-Seven.

>Now, it would be impossible to bring these grown-up children onto a single ship unless it were a very important ship.

>What about the Enterprise?

>In the most recent movies, Romulus was destroyed.  As we all know, Romulus has the Star Empire.  If Romulus is destroyed, the Empire ends.  All of the subject worlds will have to figure out what to do.

>The Romulans don't have any way of recouping their Empire.  So, why not create a show, where the Enterprise goes to these different planets (in the process discovering them since Romulus is largely closed to the rest of the galaxy) in the former Star Empire, and help them make the adjustment, even encouraging some of the planets to join the Federation?

>The grown-up kids will be distinguished by their achievements which they will largely owe to their parents.  Their parents can cameo.  B/c Romulus isn't too far away, there can be return trips to Earth and Starfleet Academy, where they can converse.

>The same paradigm will still exist of captain, doctor, engineer, counselor, helmsman, security/tactical officer, communications, maybe journalist.  Consider adding diplomat.

>At the same time, the show can serve as a parable like the original Treks of the geopolitical realities of contemporary life in a global world.

>What do you Trekkies think of that?

>

That which stays the same stagnates; that which changes evolves.  If you stagnate, you die. If Trek never goes forward, it will eventually become the Babylon 5/Six Million Dollar man, in the graveyard of what was that show again?  Considering that fact that no one will do 'real' sci-fi, you will never see anything that high minded out of a hollywood that thinks that Zombie flicks and Honey Boo Boo are cutting edge.

Stickist5334 I love your comment about grains of sand...er rice.

Probably true enough, which is why we will never see a spin off of West Side Story, too many plot lines and way too deep for most of us Americans. But let us admit that some of the TOS episodes were pretty mindless. So I guess mindless TV sells.

It would be nice to celebrate the Star Trek 50th anniversary with a new TV series starting that fall.

The Greeks staged plays to entertain and discuss issues important to their current affairs. Star Trek was a modern (1966) play designed to do the same thing. The future is filled with possibilities, tho in the current reality of what it takes to live in space times our current tecnology times our funding makes a trip to mars not something I'd want to send any man or woman out with. We should all understand that Star Trek is a stage play, and a huge space in which to present human desires to advance itself into secular angelism, outside of religious absolutism.

Star Trek should not devolve into battles between Good and Evil. The Enterprise series did, and that was its downfall.

Star Trek, to remain pure to its intent, must be a stage play that finds answers to conflicts that don't require blowing someone up to solve the problem.

With apologies to Abrams, Star Trek is not Star Wars.

Peace, Mo

I completly agree with your points. However violence and attractive women sell whether or not the actors can act. Also, keep in mind that while movies John Wayne stared in had moral agendas, they also had lovely ladies and violent scenes. It's an old way of doing things.

Personally, i think alot of fans would appreciate a series that picks right up where Nemesis left off.

I believe that there will be more shows in the future only with different people running the show and in a number of years so that it can replenish the creative tank. Only I and others possibly might be disappointed cause in might play out in a way we might not enjoy but then who really knows exactly. But with the way everything seems to be going down the toilet rare gems are rare indeed.

I sure am hoping for a another TV series but I feel like it is not going to happen. However, I am also hoping that's what this new poll is about but that is probably just wishful thinking.

Yea... the idea of taking the IKS Gorkon books and turning them into a TV series has been brought up before.
