I'd like to see something in the very distant future where the Federation is an intergalactic civilization, and the Virgo Supercluster is about the same as the Milky Way is in the 24th century.  Maybe it takes place in the 44th century. Or they could do a 29th century time ship series.

Is it possible that Star Trek has run it's course and that it's up to us now to learn it's lessons and try to make the future a better place? Why do we need to keep rebooting and re-hashing things these days?

I've never been looking for life lessons.  I just like Star Trek specifically in the original Universe.  I wanted the shows to continue after Enterprise.  Now it seems like that won't happen because of the crappy new movies that will probably have to dominate everything now.  As for making the future better we need to start electing real people to political office rather than slick weasels who only want money, and power.

I doubt we will see another Trek Series as much as I would like to see it again but friom another races point of view as there is so many cultures to explore before 2009 I would have loved to see star trek through the eyes of the romulans as there is so much about there culture and tradition that we know so little about or maybe even Klingons even though we know a lot about them I think it would have been interesting.

However Alas due to the terrible JJtrek who doesnt want anything to go against his rubbish remake it eill never happen plus CBS and Paramount would have to go into partnership to make this viable and would be extremly time consuming and expensive

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hated the reboot! What a smoldering pile of crap!

This is something that will probably be debated for a while - IF CBS decides to create a new Star Trek series.... will it be in the original Prime timeline or will they go with the alternate JJ Trek's timeline?

A story had been making the rounds on various forums that Abrams wanted to develop an animated JJ Trek series but CBS said no. I don't know if it's true or not.

I believe the last two films may have actually hurt any chance for a new series. While they certainly didn't bomb at the box office they didn't become the summer blockbusters that Paramount had hoped for. I can imagine the powers that be at CBS using this to say that there's no audience to justify the cost of producing a series.

I think they should make a mirror universe series and show the other side of the coin. maybe how the empire is trying to control the "original universe"  or they could continue with the maquis and follow the raiders story of  how they survive with no help from the fed. or they could try a outside point of view from another race. theres alot of things that could be done if they tried a little!

I hate to rain on the negativity parade here, but I have very little doubt that Star Trek will return to television someday.

With the less than stellar performance of Nemesis and Enterprise, Trek was in a very bad place for a long time.  While I certainly think JJ Abrams and his vision of Star Trek leave a lot to be desired, there can't really be much doubt that it has helped keep Trek alive, while bringing in a new generation of fans.

You can even see evidence of it on these forums.  Young people getting brought in to Trek because of the new films, and falling in love with the series afterwards.

When, or possibly even before, this new iteration of Trek runs its course, we will undoubtedly see more Star Trek on television.  Whether it is part of the old time line or the new remains to be seen.

If it is the new timeline I can guarantee they will lose a lot of fans I for one will not watch anymore JJ trek after the last two movies have been lacking. I agree with Levar Burton in a previous thread the new JJ Trek lacks Roddenberrys vision it's now more a action film than real Trek

There may well be another series ... but be warned:

You, the fans, failed to reward ENTERPRISE sufficiently.
Afterwards, CBS was glad to avoid the expense of another
series, for what marginal gains were to be had. In fact,
there hasn't been a new television series, since. So, if
you don't lap up the next CBS television offering, you can
believe that after its very short run, that will be the end of
STAR TREK on the small screen for many years to follow ...

I believe there will be another series. There are some  fans of Sci fi, Dr. Who plays in America. Yes, there are not a whole lot (though enough) fans for now & the wheel always turns.

Blalock & Nimoy were the best two actors in the Star Trek universe. Go Vulcans!

You know I take it back, you're right TravisMalcolm, there will be another series and it will do well! It will be shallow and flashy and deviod of what Trek was really about! If the reboot has shown us anything, it's that Americians are mindless children with attention spans the length of rice grains! These are the kind of people that will swallow anything!

I'd actually like to see Karl Urban star in a new series. Not as McCoy but as a different character in the post Nemesis prime universe. I thought he was the best thing in Jar Jar Trek and he is a fan of the franchise and has already established himself as a genre actor.

My God, man, get ahold of yourself!  There was no anything with TREK until WE the fans gave it life and we helped to create the universe it is in by our comments to the Great Bird.  Every time someone does something different with 'our show', we turn into crotchety old farts who use the 'it was better in my day' line.  (I have created and run ST conventions and I loved the new ST movies!  IT is an ALTERNATE Universe, not the prime and it is an ability to give something that unfortunately has gone stale new life and new fans.  Star Trek has always been about openess and acceptance--but alot of our fans are acting like dictators and wanting to silence and deny anthing that might change their worldview.  I welcome anything that will keep the Star Trek name and franchise going (short of Disney buying it).
