It is ten years after Voyager’s return from the Delta Quadrant, and the Federation is in a crisis. The Federation’s main suppliers of dilithium crystals are disappearing. Space and time have folded around several planets, effectively isolating them from any contact with outside worlds. And this phenomenon is not natural – someone or something is causing this to happen. This necessitates drastic measures; some of which are outside the Federation’s normal jurisdiction. For this, Admiral Pavel Chekov, head of Starfleet Intelligence, turns to Commander Tuvok, Voyager’s former security officer and current head of the newly reorganized Section 31. Tuvok must put together a new covert, renegade crew – mostly outcasts and rogues – even criminals. This new crew is tasked with finding out what is causing the folding of time and space, and stopping it – at all costs. But will they be able to put aside their differences and stop trying to kill one another in time to accomplish their mission?

It has been more than seven long years since “Enterprise” left the air, and though we’ve had the recent big screen adaptation of Gene Roddenberry’s futuristic vision (and the sequel coming this year), we feel the true home of Star Trek is as a continuing episodic series. The goal of this project is to make that happen.

We, the team who brought you Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, are proud to announce Star Trek: Renegades, a professionally produced television pilot to be presented for a possible online series.

Renegades, as the name suggests, will be bold, edgy and a little dark. Renegades will feature a combination of familiar Star Trek faces, plus a collection of hot, new rising actors.

The role of Captain Lexxa Singh will be played by Adrienne Wilkinson (Xena: Warrior Princess, Star Wars: The Clone Wars). The Renegades’ antagonist in the film, Borrada, will be played by Trek veteran J.G. Hertzler (Martok, DS9; Koval, Of Gods and Men)

Also currently in the cast are Walter Koenig (Chekov, Original Series), Tim Russ, Gary Graham (Alien Nation; Soval, Enterprise), Garrett Wang (Harry Kim, Voyager), Robert Picardo (the holodoctor, Voyager), Ethan Phillips (Neelix, Voyager), Manu Intiraymi (Icheb, Voyager), Corin Nemec (Stargate SG-1), Courtney Peldon (Entourage, Home Improvement), Larissa Gomes (Saw VI, Saw 3D), actress/stunt performer Tarah Paige (Make It or Break It, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Vic Mignogna (Dragonball Z, Star Trek Continues) and Richard Herd (Admiral Paris, Voyager).

Renegades will be a departure from previous Treks – delving into the dark side of the human psyche, pushing our heroes to their limits, forcing them to carry out actions that they never would have as Starfleet officers. The rules have changed, and they realize they might be the last hope to save the Federation.

Star Trek: Renegades will be action oriented, filled with suspense and espionage; all while exploring new worlds, encountering both familiar and new alien species, and boldly going where no Trek has gone before.

I like the idea of Chekov being head of intelligence, but more because his appearance in Babylon 5, where his role as Mr. Bester was more than outstanding. I also welcome Tuvok as new head of section 31, his character really offers the possibility of making tough decisions without the emotional envolvement we could expect from other characters. Since my favourite show is DS9 I am a friend of any pscological investigation about the human condition that takes out the implicitness of good and moral decisions. I liked of Gods and Men, I must admit I was not crazy about it, but it was quite good. I really like your idea, more than that I love crew and casting you set up. I wish you all the best with your project!

I should note that none of this was expressly my idea. I am merely a social media intern running various advertising campaigns for the producers of Renegades. That being said, this show offers the perfect blend of original/DS9/Voyager/new material for its creative atmosphere. That alone makes it worth watching.

I totally agree. I think I missed the empathy I should have transported. It is a great possibility of getting back on track! I really hope this project has a future.

The 'Tuvok's Heroes' angle sounds good, but not sure about the 'warping of time and space' thing.

Personally I'm hoping Michael Dorn finally does something like this but just Klingons.  Of Gods and Men was okay in terms of script but it was a little underwhelming, which was disappointing considering that there were so many Trek alumni involved.

Renegades kinda makes me go "huh"?  Not sold on all the espionage and Section 31 plot. Or Chekov being involved.

Who, Michael Dorn? If so that sucks.  I love Klingons and Worf, and I would love to see Dorn do a Klingon series.

I would really donate if he did a Kickstarter, but I would assume that a lot of Klingons requires top level, union make up and costume designers that can't work indy projects.  On Of Gods and Men, even the simple Orion makeup was sketchy.

What a load of bovine excrement Renegades turned out to be ...

Seeing these big names in a low-budget fan-based movie,
shot in somebody's basement is not a plus, for me. But
I, personally, would have loved to see --  using the same
talent and budget -- an original, present-day picture that
has nothing to do with STAR TREK, at all. Grindhouse, or
something else different. A zombie flick ... whatever ...
STAR TREK on film has to have a lot of coin spent on it.
Seeing it without that ... I don't like it, at all. But ...
wow ... Eddie Furlong (!!!) is in it! I wondered what he
was up to after his turn as THE CROW, a few years back ...

Uhm, how exactly do you know what Renegades "turned out to be" when it hasn't begun filming yet?

"Seeing these big names in a low-budget fan-based movie, shot in somebody's basement is not a plus for me"

Wow you must have a time machine because Renegades has only made a trailer and shooting isn't scheduled to begin until October.

Sarcasm is my native language.
JJ Abrams is not of the body.

... What a Mistake-ah to Make-ah!!!

I seem to have gotten this confused with
Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, which I did
see a fair amount of, before I had to
turn away from it, in disgust. OK, so...
Tim Russ and Walter Koenig are in both.
Right then, this is Renegades, the sequel
that nobody asked for ... thank you, dear.

Vulcan Merchant: The opportunity to offer a legitimate continuation of the Prime Universe following Nemesis, for me anyway, is simply too good to pass up.

Ne Vem: There have been so many storylines that have already been used, and by that I mean the overall purpose of a particular Trek series. The original series had its 5 year mission. TNG had its promise of expansive space exploration. DS9 spun out of the battle of Locutus and featured Sisko as an “emissary”. Voyager got lost in the Delta Quadrant and had to find a way back home. Enterprise chronicled the adventures of the very first Starfleet crew. When you think about it, Renegade’s premise is actually quite interesting in comparison. It’s fresh and exciting.

Bunkey: Supposedly Starfleet has chosen to reorganize Section 31 into a more legitimate division, not one that is constantly trying to undermine their endeavors. Tuvok seemed like an excellent choice to head up this new project.

Willowtree: If Michael Dorn pushes hard enough and is persistent, he will eventually get a pick up. An all Klingon series, though? I personally wouldn’t go for it. The show would need to have more equality and variety to hold my interest. Voyager is a prime example of this.

2takesfrakes: Renegades hasn’t begun filming yet, and it will most certainly not be filmed in someone’s basement. You have to understand that a great deal of the people involved – apart from donations – are pulling this pilot together using their own time and finances. They are doing so to provide the fans with a service that hopefully they’ll be satisfied with. Yes, it is technically a movie, but as far as TV shows are concerned pilots always tend to be lower in budget. It’s only when the series gets picked up that the budget might increase and better special effects will be created. All I am asking is for you to please be more patient and open minded.

Bunkey: Thank you, for the much needed assist. I should note that I am not getting paid for this. I’m advertising the show on my own time basically as a favor to the cast and crew so that it has better potential for success. I am very passionate about this. I know in my heart that it’s going to be amazing.

2takesfrakes: I would appreciate it if you kindly kept your harsh comments to yourself. You’re entitled to your own opinion, just please refrain from any sort of hostility towards the project. That sort of behavior might turn people away. Also, Renegades is not a sequel to Of Gods and Men. It is it’s own entity.

Mr. Underwood, believe me when I tell you:
the fate of your Renegades project is not up
to me, or my "harsh comments." Or my praise.

I mean, I knocked "Of Gods & Men" and it did
not seem to affect the outcome of that project.
Everyone knows that I am not Jonathan Frakes.

And besides, these boards are expressly for the
posting of every viewpoint - not yours, alone. But,
I understand that you were asked to do a job and
that you want to do it well. That's very commendable!

As I might have said, everyone is entitle to his/her own opinion. I was merely expressing the desire to keep things at a respectful/constructive level. And thank you, for the compliment. It was very much appreciated.

Jason Underwood: I said the concept of Tuvok's Heroes sounded decent, but the plot point/arc they're going after didn't. I don't think the concept needs this, it works just as well if they're investigating Romulans or the fringes of the Trekverse.

I saw the first episode of Star Trek Continues and that was surprisingly okay. It was mostly character stuff, which is what I like about Trek. If Renegades does this too then great.

Btw, I thought Ed Furlong was in jail? Or did Kate Mulgrew break him out for this mission?
