I've said before that if they did a series 50 years after TNG they could have many characters from the 24th century active (not just really old people as fan service like Admiral McCoy in TNG). Of course there could be geriatric cameos as well, but people that could have an active role would include:

Admiral Wesley Crusher

Chancellor Worf

B4 (with the motion capture technology they have now, Brent Spiner’s aging would be a non-issue)

Pulitzer Prize Winner Jake Sisko

Dax (preferably a man this time to make with the awkward LOLZ with Worf)

Captain Nog

Hyperion Beetle Snuff Addict Molly O’Brien (sorry, I just hate that kid. she is my Wesley Crusher)

Commander Naomi Wildman

Klingon Ambassador Miral Paris

and Alexander doing something that doesn’t involve tripping or breaking things.

Also, a new animated series would be awesome as well. There would be less limitations with aliens and VFX. TAS gave us M'Ress and Arex, two characters that would be difficult and expensive to produce on a live action series even today. Species like the Horta could appear as well.

Perhaps Riker and Takei could have roles as Admirals and be in charge of directly over seing a fleet of ships under their commands. Other familiar actors could be in charge of nearby space stations and perhaps medical spaceships and other emergency vessels which are sent to aid a ship in distress due to severe shipwide damage and ship wide casualties.

Also they can visit the ship as Ambassadars  and peacekeepers representing their home planets. They can bring important information regarding the ship's current mission. And some could turn out to be very difficult villains who command their own ships or fleet of ships.

>Frakes is a bit wide for the role. LOL!  I always thought the change in TNG uniforms from unitards to the two piece deals was directly related to Frakes, Dorn and Burton having a little too much at the craft services table. Spiner and Stewart were the only ones who kept their girlish figures.

that's not fair, can you tell me you haven't put on a few pounds as the years go by? And I saw Dorn and Burton two weeks ago, they looked amazing. Michael Dorn even did these push ups on stage where he put his feet up on a chair

>That is a good point about doing a series based on the new movies and having an entirely new fan base. We would certainly see more of their five year mission!!

you would have to recast it, and the ship would have to be a different class

Personally I'd rather see Riker on the Titan

I agree, but portraying some of the Titan's crewmembers might be difficult.  Perhaps it would be easier to use Capt. Ezri Dax and her crew on the Vesta-class USS Aventine!

Additionally familiar Starfleet characters could return to their Mequii way of life causing severe problems for Starfleet.

I'm assuing you mean the Maquis? why would they? they did that because they were unhappy with the federation giving their land to the cardassians. That issue is over and done with, and there are no more maquis, they're all gone except for a few in prison or Chakotay and B'elanna and the people who were on that ship

Well Dorn is vegan last time I heard. When I see pics pf him now he looks too skinny.

But during the show, Frakes always struck me as Shatner-esque with his waistline.

But Sir Patrick always looks ready for bikini season.

Hi if i was to see a new star trek series, this would be my idea its a cop style show in the star trek universe baced around section 31. the show would be set around two agents played by sean been and robertPatrick, as two bad ass secret agents also as a female roll Amanda tapping as the boss.

premises: espionage explosions adult humor guns and fast ships. all action all the time BAM XD

Star Trek: Kronos has been my idea for years. An aging Chancellor Martok with Federation Ambassador Worf at the core. Maybe throw in Ambassador Kira from the still-independent Bajor. Or Ezri Dax in a similar role for that tension. The show would be more like DS9 with the continuity. Conflicts could arise from the Klingons trying to adapt best practices from lessons with Jem Haddar, power struggles to succeed Martok and resulting stress on Federation relations and the Romulans spying to steal the Jem Haddar intelligence and influence the next Chancellor.

Would be first series to center totally outside Federation, but its the Klingons so very safe move. Could dive deep into Klingon culture and life in ways never possible before and see conflict without the Federation lens each time. And Klingons like to fight so that presents all sorts of options to go after ratings with action at times.

A little outside the box but that is what it is time for. Expand the ST universe by filling in details on the parts we have been exposed to for decades.
