What could a new ST series be about?

Im new but saw several threads on this subject and would like to throw my idea out on a few of them if ok.

Star Trek: Kronos has been my idea for years. An aging Chancellor Martok with Federation Ambassador Worf at the core. Maybe throw in Ambassador Kira from the still-independent Bajor. Or Ezri Dax in a similar role for that tension. The show would be more like DS9 with the continuity. Conflicts could arise from the Klingons trying to adapt best practices from lessons with Jem Haddar, power struggles to succeed Martok and resulting stress on Federation relations and the Romulans spying to steal the Jem Haddar intelligence and influence the next Chancellor.

Would be first series to center totally outside Federation, but its the Klingons so very safe move. Could dive deep into Klingon culture and life in ways never possible before and see conflict without the Federation lens each time. And Klingons like to fight so that presents all sorts of options to go after ratings with action at times.

A little outside the box but that is what it is time for. Expand the ST universe by filling in details on the parts we have been exposed to for decades.

That sounds like a good idea, it could be interesting to see the galaxy from the view of an organisation other than Starfleet and the one we know best other than them are the Klingons. We know a lot about the Federation's problems but surly the Klingons must have their fair share of crisis’s too. I would like to see Worf and Martok again and how they handle the empire, the houses against each other (could also mean the return of Duras house), alien like the leftover Jem'hadar and Breen invading their space and their ties with the federation put on strain. I expect a lot of Klingons wouldn't be too happy with the Feds if they did business with the Romulans after Nemesis.

It would be a risky move but it could be a good one, from what we can tell from DS9 is that a) You can make many likeable Klingons for the main stars and b) doing lots of Klingon makeup isn't impossible. Nice idea.

If they do a new series, I think that its sensible to do it in the 25th century, but perhaps not so far ahead in time (maybe 20-25 years after Nemesis?) That way if, for example, you want to have Riker on the Titan, it could still logically work because he would look older, both in real life and in the Star Trek Timeline. This could also allow for other stars from the TNG, DS9, or Voyager to have cameos and still appear that time has past and makes sense.

A whole new crew of course is what I would expect. I also think that it would be cool that the Captain is a non-human, possibly also from a non-federation world (Orion, for example).

Early 25th century does seem to be the best option in my opinion too if they could have guests from other series, it would also be an interesting time for ST, the Dominion war aftermath, destruction of Romulus, would make an interesting series.

I've wondered once or twice about a non-human captain, it would certainly be a nice change from the norm and said captain may feel alienated from other captains and admirals since whenever we see starfleet higherups they are almost always human (with a possible Vulcan too).

An interesting proposal, the kids on the show have show promise to be Starfleet material, Naomi Wildman and Icheb for instance, but as you said it would be problematic to get all the kids together. I like your idea, not only for the plot but also to see more of the Romulans (I'm still kinda bummed their planet was destroyed), and I also like the idea of adding a journalist to the main cast, that could reflect the current real world issues of whistleblowers, the impact of their actions and whether it's justified.

The problem with the idea is that it's not only improbable but the kids would also have to differentiate themselves from their parents in some ways. With Seven-Chakotay would the kid have trouble with emotions and be very smart or spiritual and a leader? It would be lazy just to copy the traits of their parents onto them so they would need to develop some traits of their own. However if this was a series they would probably do that in due course.
