Considered putting this in the science and technology forum, but it would probably have been missed by most readers.

The lead researcher has already printed chocolate. Unbelievable.


We need a new televised star trek series now more than ever -- a series that inspires new technological advances for an era when they could actually be brought about. Here's hoping they can find some producer with Roddenberry's capacity for practicable techological imagination. A futurist physics advisor like Michio Kaku could help there.

I've been hearing about this for a while now - I think it's awesome that's we're making strides towards this.  It's still very expensive.  A recent article on Gizmodo said a burger would cost $300K.

Personally, the idea of food replicators scares my little unscientific brain.  They recycle everything. EVERYTHING

Even still, part of me understands breaking things down to their molecules and such but another part of me would be screaming "THIS WAS POOP!"

But doesn't manure feed plants that are then consumed by humans and by the animals that we eat?
