If you were given the chance and money to create your own Star Trek series what would you include?

Uniform?

Ship(s)?

Bad Guys?

Colours?

Things I'd like to see:

- Cardassia joins the Federation.

- A factional war between law abiding Orion groups and the Syndicate in which the Federation helps the Syndicate fall.

- The Borg collective manages to form a true composite representative of the drones which supplants and kills the Queen. The Borg then begins to radically redesign its behavior and the lifestyle of assimilated individuals.

- The defection of a sizable number of Romulans to Vulcan.

- The random and intermittent reappearance of the whale probe (with a lack of technobabble).

- A healthy mix of ships with a new design for the Enterprise.

Uniform-I'd like them to go for a more military/nautical look. And bring back skirts for the women. They don't have to be mini-skirts, but it's a nice reference to TOS. I wouldn't mind going back to the TOS color scheme either (with Gold as the command color)

Ship-I wouldn't name it Enterprise. It doesn't always have to be the Enterprise. You could give it a classic naval name like Yorktown or Lexington, or a name referencing something from Star Trek. I'd want it to look radically different from anything we've seen

Villains-The Klingons once again becoming agressive in the wake of the Beta Quadrant power vaccum makes sense. Also the Bajorans (becoming newly agressive in the wake of the fall of the Cardassians) Orions, Breen, and Gorn.  I'd do a several episode arc with each of those 5 in Season 1 and then decide which ones to focus on for full season arcs later on. The Dominion can resurface later. The Romulans and Cardassians can become more sympathetic. They should leave the Borg alone in any new series, unless they have a really, really good idea. Ditto for time travel.

Going back to the TOS color scheme might be nice, but maybe the colors used to designate the person's area should be a much more subtle part of the uniform in order to promote a sense of unity. I can also do without the time travel. I'm not sure that the Bajorans becoming more aggressive makes sense; they have pretty much none of the infrastructure, specially skilled civilians, or resources necessary to put forth an aggressive front. The Breen would probably be a good addition as well since they remain pretty mysterious and unexposed.

Well, it depends on when the series is set. If it's about 100 years later, there wouldn't be anything weird about it. Humans advanced pretty quickly between the 22nd and 23rd centuries.

I agree that humans did advance pretty quickly but from what I understand of the Bajoran history they're a species prone to stagnation, complacency, internal bigotry and disloyalty. The other mentioned races such as the Breen, Cardassians, and Orions would be more flexible choices.

An idea I just came up with.

Concept: The Alpha Quadrant was conquered by an extragalactic race called the Mentharans in the mid 2400s. This series would take place in the late 27th century, twenty years after the Alpha Quadrant races have managed to overthrow their oppressors. With its borders relatively secure for now, the New Federation Starfleet is beginning to return to its mission of exploration, with our protagonists crewing the first science vessel commissioned in almost two hundred years.

Crew: A mixture of idealistic explorers and combat-hardened veterans. Most will have fought the Mentharans during the rebellion.

Ship: U.S.S. Enterprise, named for the decorated starships of the old Starfleet. While reminiscent of the classic Enterprises, this ship is tougher and more heavily armed. Think Excelsior with a hint of Defiant. Powered by an artificial black hole, not unlike the Romulan warbirds of the 24th century. The new Enterprise's registry is NX-01-A.

Bad Guys: New factions rise and fall every day. Some are peaceful towards the New Federation, others are not. The Enterprise would encounter both alien and familiar faces as it ventures into unexplored space. And there are still pockets of Mentharans sneaking around, eager to make the New Federation pay for what they've done.

Uniforms: Something kind of like the Enterprise uniforms, only more military looking.

Must they?

I'd rather see Cardassia stay out of the Federation always, not because they would not be worthy members (they would), but because it is tiresome sometimes to think of the Federation assimilating every political entity they come across -- it is much better to think of some remaining 100% independant.

I would like to see them join the Federation for various reasons. The Cardassian people were pretty beat up through the stretch of DS9. Surely they're in a position where what they really want now is peace, stability, and protection. Joining the Federation gives Cardassian citizens a much better chance at getting these things and gives them access to the Federation's vast scientific knowledge and resources.

It also gives us a chance to explore something darker. The Bajorans, paranoid and vaguely isolationist already are immediately and deeply offended by the admission of the Cardassians to the Federation. They could be shown as ejecting all Star Fleet & Federation personnel and influence from their territory. From there they fall back into the vicious behavior of killing each other as they were going to initially before the Federation stopped them. Have the Federation and Star Fleet who sacrificed so much time and so many lives protecting the Bajorans watch helplessly as they wallow in bitterness and descend into civil wars that decimate Bajor like the Cardassians never could. As the final insult during a struggle between rival Bajoran groups escalates a Bajoran terrorist attack results in the destruction of DS9.

Delicious.

I'd go with the 29th century Wells Class ship and doing things throughout history to fix attempts to mess with it.  (Like when the Borg tried to stop First Contact.)

I agree.

Plus, perhaps they could incorporate some of the story lines from the Typhon Pact and Project Full Cirlce books.

40 to 50 years after TNG/DS9.

There wouldn't be the need to distance a new series by 75 years the way they had to with TOS/TNG.

I like the Jupiter 1 uniforms from the STO game.  They're a great combination of TOS/TWK/TNG. And they look like they have pockets!

I'd like to see more Tellarites, Horta and other races that were hard to pull off previously due to SFX limitations.

Exploration! I hate the fact that modern Trek leans more toards combat. I'd like to see a new type of exploration, such as interdimensional travel.  They could explore Meridian, which would be scheduled to reappear.  Also an oppourtunity for the newest Dax to make an appearance to greet the planet and Deral.

One new villain could be Lazarus.  With exploring new dimensions they free one of the Lazaruses, who's gone insane.

Enemies, introduce a new species.  Again, you could make in interdimensional.

An alien captain. It would be a risk, because the lead needs to be relateable to audiences, but I'd love an alien in the chair.

I would love to see LGBT represented, with a main character in a same sex union.  I mean, gods know we had to deal with the O'Briens domestic squabbles enough. Just have a same sex couple but make it no big thing. It just is.

NO Section 31. I despise the concept.

Admiral Wesley Crusher and Chancellor Worf would make appearances on occasions.  B4 could also make a guest appearance. Provided Brent Spiner was inclined to participate, his aging out of the role would no longer be a factor with the motion capture technology used now.  If they can make Andy Serkis look like an ape, they can make old Data look like young Data.

Well the captain could perhaps be a Cardassian or a female Denobulan which would be amusing. I agree that exploration should be more prominent in a new series but I'm not sure that it should be in the form of interdimensional travel. Making exploration so abstract invites the writers to bog it down with technobabble. Maybe some archeological exploration and investigating the long history of the Orion people? Perhaps searching to see if there's anything significant left from the species that seeded life throughout the galaxy would be a good element.

You're simply not likely to see the uniforms from STO on TV. There would probably be squabbling about rights and royalties.

Also I just realized that there should be a wide variety of pop music in Star Trek. Everyone and their mother can't only like classical music. Ask artists to donate the rights to some of their music to potentially be used in episodes. Heck, ask fans to create and donate music for the series. They would get a lot of good material that way.

Ethics are arbitrary.

Everything belongs to Paramount.  All uniforms are their intellectual property.
