I am very glad that there were no openly gay characters in Star Trek. If so, I would not have watched it anymore. I do not deny that gay people are still people. IMO I think it is wrong. I cannot speak about other people though.

If they had put a gay character in Star trek, It would have been more than just going home for a husband to see his husband. They would want to do more with it than neccesary and make it into a different stortyline unrelated to the story. It is one thing for two people of the same sex to kiss and being married/in a romantic relationship.

The idea of gay people on Star Trek revolts me. I am glad none were ever made.

I'm sure that gay people find your ignorance and discriminatory attitude revolting.  I know I do.

Gays are not their own species....this whole thread is retarded....blacks, whites, chinese, japanese etc...yes they are all humans, but they are still their own culture. Gays are not a culture....it is a backward sexual orientation of being sexually attracted to the same gender as yourself. They are not a species...they are not a culture. Simply screwed up in the head from whatever trauma they dealt with at an early age most of the time. And for the record Rejoined wasn't even a lesbian kiss. They weren't lesbians and it had absolutely nothing to do with being gay.

David Gerrod, who wrote the series bible for Star Trek:The Next Generation, submitted a script titled, "Blood and Fire" which was an AIDS allegory story featuring two openly gay characters. It was for the first season of TNG. However, the script was shelved for being "aesthetically displeasing", according to D.C. Fontana, these were Gene Rodenberry's words. It was later made into a New Voyages episode, you can see it on YouTube. As for an AIDS allegory story, Trek fans would have to wait until Enterprise's second season, an episode titled "Stigma", but this deals with a neurological disorder, not one transmitted sexually, or thru blood.

It's amazing how many so called fans of a show that promoted tolerance of all species and cultures are so blatantly ignorant and biased.

You are a backward individual who brings shame to all forward thinking Star Trek fans.  You are a disgrace to fandom.

Again, I AM tolorant of other species and cultures...gays ARE NOT A FREAKIN CULTURE!!!!!! A freak of nature perhaps, but not a culture. And if I am a disgrace to fandom, than you are equally a disgrace to what marriage and scripture stand for.

Well in that case, I hope we also get a 2nd couple, a married Christian couple following scripture and doing the correct things, and showing the difference between the two. It will get rid of people of like you....bottom line is, neither are going to happen. I will never understand why people are so obsessed with putting gays in Star Trek. Star Trek is not a show about sex or sexual orientation. It is a show about technology, science, and exploration of space. Homosexuality has no place in a show like that. Anymore than we ever wanted an entire episode dedicated to a straight couple having sex. It's not that kind of show. Go watch HBO if you want to watch men rub on eachother and quit trying to ruin Star Trek.

I do not follow organized religion or scripture.  Religion leads to segregation, inequality, oppression and war. I do not need religion to be a good person and to know right from wrong, nor would I follow any religion/god that preached hatred and intolerance of my fellow human beings for their lifestyle.  I have the ability to think for myself and don't need ancient texts to dictate my life. Therefore I cannot be a disgrace to a faction I am not part of.

As far as "freak of nature", that statement shows that you have absolutely no understanding of science or nature.  It also shows that you do not understand that love is love.  You are not a loving person. You have no love in your heart if you would seek to judge and condemn others for loving someone that you deem "wrong".

You claim to be a Star Trek fan, yet you are a bigot. You are intolerant of people who are homosexuals. Star Trek's message is acceptance of all races and cultures. That different doesn't equal bad.

Finally, Gene Roddenberry was an athiest. He believed in exploration of humanity through science.  His vision of the future included acceptance and equality of everyone. That includes homosexuals. Gene Roddenberry has been gone for many years, and I always hestitate to speak for someone who is dead that  didn't know, but I'm pretty sure that if he were alive, he would be disgusted by your opinions and embarrased to have you as a fan. I know I'm disgusted to have to share the title "Trekkie" with someone as ignorantly homophobic as you.

Actually a religious couple would NOT ruin it for me because I am tolerant of religions. I respect people's right to worship whomever they choose as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights and freedoms of others. That is the difference between you and I. I tolerate other lifestyles that are not the same as mine.  I respect people as long as they respect others (which is why I do not respect you.)

As far as sex goes, did you turn away when Worf and Jadzia kissed, or they showed sexual situations between B'Ellanna and Paris? There was SO much sex in space.  Sex was dripping all over the place.  You are ignorant if you think a same sex couple translates into simple sex.

You are a very sad small person I'm sure the wonderful George Takei would love to chat with you as well. And of course there's Sir Patrick, who is a supporter of gay rights and is having his own wedding officiated by Sir Ian McKellen, who is openly gay. Sir Patrick also had a part in a movie where he played a gay man. The movie's called "Jeffrey".  So you must dislike Sir Patrick and George as well because they are or support "revolting" gays.

I don't have any problems with George Takei or Patrick Stewart. That is THEIR choice. In THEIR personal life. It doesn't have anything to do with anyone but them. Someone being gay in their personal life isn't shoving it in my face. And you are niave if you honestly believe that if homosexuality were in Star Trek that it would be done in a normal, minor way. It would end up being a total gay fest and over done and shoved in your face. What someone does in their own life on their own time is their own business, nobody else's. But I still don't want it shoved in my face in Star Trek. I watch other shows that have gays in it. Six Feet Under for example. But that's a show that deals with real life, in real life situations. The gays fit in that series. I don't feel that gays fit in Star Trek. And I would also like to point out that I NEVER referred to the gays as "revolting" YOU did that....

You also claim to be a Star Trek fan, say gays have no place in Star Trek, yet you're enjoying the creation of a visionary who was quite hedonistic. Gene Roddenberry was an extraordinary man who was also an athiest and a man of of notorious sexual appetites.  His extra-marital affairs are well documented. So, by your definition, you are following the brain child of a man who was also a "disgrace" to what marriage and scripture stand for. That either makes you a sinner or a hypocrite.

Queer culture has every right to be represented in Star Trek. It would round out the message of tolerance and acceptance.   If you think it would be a "gay fest" (whatever that is) then you have little to no knowledge of what a same sex realtionship consists of (they're just like straight relationships, whoda thunk?" and are obviously unfamiliar with the writing on Caprica, which was created by Ronald D Moore, a Star Trek Alumi.

And finally, in my experience, the most homophibic of people are usually the ones who fear it because they see something in themselves. Intolerance of others is spawned from self loathing and fear.  Maybe watching a same sex couple makes you uncomfortable because you want to be kissed like that? Hmmm?

Go ahead. Debate me. Also debate the arrogance of humanity to think that in a series that depicts species of all forms, not ONE of those species could possibly have same sex couples.

If it's so easy to debate me, do so. But rather than debate you'd rather stick to a simplistic insults. That says a lot.
