My point is in the 23rd Century, it was more of a naval atmosphere and therefore rank and insignia is required.  The 24th Century is more relaxed.

Can you compare business dresscode requirements of the 1970s to 2013? Nope.  In the 70s and 80s most women were required to wear closed toed shoes and pantyhose in the office. in 2013 things are more relaxed.

And I'm not the one who brought up Troi. I was comparing NuUhura's uniform to the other uniforms in NuTrek. So this nitpicking isn't on me.

If everyone insists that NuTrek is an alternate timeline and therefore you cannot compare things that happened in previous incarnations, then why compare what happened in TNG to NuTrek? It's a contradiction.

Uhura should wear rank because she's supposedly equal to the men on the ship.  Why should she not be able to proudly display the rank she worked hard to achieve because she's wearing a dress? A little sexist if you ask me.

Never said the catsuits weren't sexist. 7 of 9 and T'Pol were very sexist.  But does that mean we can't improve on practices?

Now you see?  if you'd started that way you might have sparked a reasonable discussion.

By "reasonable" do you mean "not disagreeing with you"? Because that's what that sounds like to me.

What was unreasonable about my discussion?  I still stand by the reasoning behind Troi's uniforms and that although she did provide eyecandy, there were valid explanations for her casual wear and is not a valid reason for NuUhura to be without rank.

T'Pol and 7 of 9 were different altogether.  Now we're getting into apples, oranges AND bananas.

And I still believe that 23rd century practices cannot be compared to 24th.

how convenient.

I have no problem with people disagreeing with me.  The level of hysteria and vitriol in most "haters" post make it difficult to take them seriously though.

I don't see hysteria here.  I'm not typing in all caps. I'm not rambling imcomprehensibly. I'm making valid counter arguments that I wholly believe that you disagree with.  So that makes me a "hysterical hater"? That's quite personal.

Once again, a disagreement about the movie has turned personal by someone in the "pro NuTrek" camp.

I only question the praticality of Uhura's uniform in Star Trek (2009).

How can one function and perform their crew duties in so short a skirt?

If Uhura, when sitting, has to place both hands on her lap to cover up the skirt, how can she work the controls?

The original series Uhura's uniform was more practical, she could turn around in her chair, talk to the captain, hand tools or computer tapes to Spock, watch the view screen, without worying about her skirt.

I liked TOS' female uniforms. The were more "skorts" with the bloomers and you could kick without flashing the crew.

I'd personally prefer a catsuit for freedom of movement and I like pants.  Or Enterprise uniforms, with pockets!

But NuUhura seems like a straight up dress and the cut is impractical, which is why I want the material they use but in a TOS design.
